We can all agree that the human brain is a fascinating piece of matter. Despite all of the advances in cognitive neuroscience, there is still so much we do not quite understand about the brain. Consciousness, for example. In this video, Dr. Heather Berlin explains what exactly consciousness is, but how the brain produces consciousness is still a bit of a puzzle for scientists.
Dr. Heather Berlin is a cognitive neuroscientist and Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She explores the neural basis of impulsive and compulsive psychiatric and neurological disorders with the aim of developing novel treatments. She is also interested in the brain basis of consciousness, dynamic unconscious processes, and creativity.
